Cartheinsane's Connection #14 (Finally here!)

Sun Jul 5, 2009, 5:47 PM
  • Mood: Neutral
REMEMBER: if you catch my 14,000th page view...I'll give you a feature. :tighthug:

Update: I'm still open for more people's work. It'd be nice if more people would do the other challenges. Pretty please? Remember that you don't have to do them all and you can scroll down to read the type of challenge you want to do. You don't have to read through all the challenges (because what's the point of reading the ones you're not going to do?). :D

I am back with "Cartheinsane's connection" with not only poetry challenges, but prose challenges, photography challenges, fractal challenges, painting challenges and drawing challenges (painting and drawing can include digital). Granted, every time I post a connection I will not be able to post challenges for them all, but I will do my best! If you have any other types of art that you Think I should do feel free to suggest them. :)

IF the submissions become large enough...I will post submissions and challenges in separate posts the next time I update. Since the last connection didn't have very many posters...and I lost some of them by deleting one of my journal entries (which let you know the last challenge was extended...) I am not going to post the last submissions (but you can look AT THE COMMENTS to see them yourself if you wish). I think I deleted one of them on accident. So here's the ones that still remain. And here are the rules if you've forgotten. The rules are in bold for ya. :)

ON TO THE CHALLENGES! :eager: Feel free to do as many of the challenges as you like from as many categories as you like. :)

Photo, drawing and painting challenges:

1) Draw, paint or take a picture of 1 or more objects in your room that you think are the least used. Take them to...
A) Renew their beauty somehow.

and/or

B) Create a darkness about them. Make the objects evil/haunting.

2) Draw, paint or take a picture of an animal of some sort that rarely talked about or that doesn't get enough love (so pretty much dogs and cats are done quite a bit). This can include a type of bird that nobody thinks about or a completely different species rarely talked/thought about.

Fractal challenges:

1) Make a non-centered, non-symmetrical piece that's fairly transparent with 2 or more colors inspired by ...

A) An element (fire, water, air, earth or sky)
Or
B) A favorite object of yours.

Prose challenges:

1) Write an interpretation of the meaning one of your favorite poems/proses as though you know that it is the meaning. Please cite your source and give credit to the artist you're interpreting. This can be any prose/poem.

2) Write a short story that includes these objects: A red ball, a paper plate and stinky old shoes.

Poetry challenge:

1) Write a poem with a the following structure

(Each word that starts at the beginning of each line must be kept there. Each line represents a place where you can have whatever. Each line can be as long as you'd like, but of course be polite and don't go overboard. :XD: Capitalization can be adjusted how you would like.)

Grief ______________
____________________
Decaying _____________
____________________

Lovely _____________
____________________
Forgotten __________
____________________

____________________
____________________
____________________
____________________

Repeat the first line
____________________
____________________
____________________

So if you can look carefully, you can see there is 4 lines and 4 stanzas. The 3rd stanza is a verse you can put pretty much anything you want there.

BUT DO NOT use THESE words in this poem:

Sad, unhappy, depressed, happy, angry, or mad.

If you want to use similar words here are some suggested alternatives (of course, I recommend picking one that sounds best... and of course if you have alternatives of your own, feel free to use them. Feel free to adjust the tenses according to your needs as well.):

For Sad/unhappy/depressed: sorrowful, mournful, somber, drab, despondent, disconsolate, discouraged, gloomy, downcast, downhearted, dejected, melancholy.

For happy: delighted, pleased, glad, joyous, joyful, blithe, cheerful, merry, contented, gay, blissful and satisfied.

For angry/mad: irate, incensed, enraged, infuriated, furious, provoked, irritated and wrathful.

:wow: PHEW! That took a lot of time to type up.

When you're done please to link your artwork in the comments. I'm not sure as how frequent I'll have these challenges. It depends upon if there's a good amount of people doing them. At least a week though.

:eager: I can't wait.

A birthday is just a day, you say.
But it's a special day.
It's the day you first changed the world.

That's the poetry one, I might end up doing the prose one too, if I have time.

So glad your back, Honey. We missed you.

Smile, and the world will smile with you. Laugh and they'll all think you're on drugs.
